What’s New

2021.10.28

  • List Picker Search
    • It is now possible to search your lists when picking a list to add to an item.

For users with a lot of lists, this will make adding an item to a list much faster.

It is also possible to add a new list using your search term.

2021.10.5

  • Backup and Sync Now Optional
    • Gather data is now stored primarily on your device and not on the Gather server. Data on your device is backed up via iTunes or iCloud if you use those Apple features.

As part of this change, the Backup and Sync feature is now part of the Gather Subscription. If you want to use Gather on multiple devices or have Gather keep a backup of your data, consider signing up for a Membership!

  • More Features for Non-Members
    • While Backup and Sync is becoming a member feature, we have other features that are now available for everyone. Notably, creating lists and moving items is now possible without a membership.

  • More Privacy
    • We used to store your email address when you logged in via Apple. We no longer do this, even if you choose to backup or sync your data with our servers. If you want to get Gather updates you can sign up for our mailing list!

  • Support via Messages
    • Gather now offers support via the Messages app. You can message us from within the app using the "Support" link in the bottom left of the home screen.

2021.3.25

  • Notifications
    • This is our first pass at adding notifications to the app. We're starting with two types of notification:

    • Review Reminders can remind you daily, monthly, or yearly to review that periods log. Use this to remember to review your daily log every morning or to remember to move things you've been preparing for an upcoming month to days once that month starts.
    • Suggestions currently covers two types of notification. One will notify you if you've moved a task between logs multiple times. This can help inspire you either to get the task done or maybe just ignore it. The other will let you know if you've had an item sitting in the lost and found for a week. This can help you decided if it belongs in a log/list or maybe even the trash.

  • List Icons
    • You can now use emoji to customize list icons! The UI for this is still in progress, but if you tap the box icon when adding a new list or on the list detail screen you can select an emoji for that list. We plan on greatly improving this and making it easer to find very soon, but wanted to get it out so people could play with it asap.

2020.3.1

  • Projects are now called Lists
    • We've changed the name of Projects to Lists to signal that these containers are useful for more than just projects. Below are some of the ways we use this feature that don't really fit with the Project name:

    • Grocery List
    • Books I read in 2020
    • Places to visit
    • We have more enhancements planed for lists in the near future as well!

2021.2.25

  • Update Item Detail Page
    • We've made a large update to the item detail page to make it more clear and more useful.

    • Much easier to see what log or list an item is on.
    • The note field is more defined so adding notes should be easier
    • This new design carries over to the add item sheet.

2020.11.25

  • New New Item Sheet
    • We've made a large update to how you add new items in Gather. The new “add item sheet” is still accessible from the space place, but has more functionality:

    • Switch the log the item is added to while editing
    • Switch the project while editing
    • Add items to both log and project at the same time
    • Add items to any future date you wish
    • This is a big change so please reach out if you run into issues or have any confusion!

  • Add items to both a log and project
    • It is now possible for an item to be both on a project and on a log. This should help by letting you set a date for todo items on your project. For now this feature is very basic, but we plan to quickly expand it over the next week or two.

  • “Quick Actions” Retired
    • We found that nobody was really using the quick actions at the top of the screen so we removed them to give the main section of the app more room.

2020.11.2

  • Updated Calendar Support
    • Based on bugs we've found over the last couple weeks with calendar support we've decided to limit syncing to a single device. This will make sure you don't end up with duplicate events.

  • Improved iPad Support
    • We have continued to improve support for the iPad with fixes and polish here and there. Let us know if you see anything odd!

  • Support for larger font sizes
    • If you use a larger font size on your iPhone or iPad you should see that gather should both look and work better. Please let us know if you run into any text that still feels too small or has other issues!

2020.9.25

  • iPad Support (Beta)
    • This release brings true iPad support to Gather! While the iPad design isn't quite finished we decided the current state is so much better than the current iPad app it was worth releasing to start getting feedback from users.

  • Delete your Account
    • We take your privacy very seriously and want to make sure you have as much control over your data as possible. As we get closer to launch we're adding features to give you control over your data. In this release we've added the ability to fully delete your account and all its data via the settings screen in the app. We hope you don't choose to use it, but if you do want to we want it to be as easy as possible!

  • Data Export
    • Within the settings app you can now request and export all the data we currently have stored for you. This can be used as a personal backup or as a way to get your data out before deleting your account.

2020.8.18

  • New Location Permissions
    • It is now optional to store location and weather data on logs when adding items. As part of this change we've stopped tracking location on logs by default. This means if you would like location and weather information on your logs you'll need to turn it on within settings.

2020.8.10

  • Search
    • You can now search for logs, projects and items via our new search feature! Currently only available on the mobile version of the app.

2020.8.4

  • Remove Event Item Type
    • In anticipation of upcoming features and to attempt to keep the app as simple as possible we've removed the event item type. This type wasn't widely used and with the advent of calendar sync we felt like this feature was redundant.

Note: If you found this feature useful and are really missing it, please let us know at gather@tiltshiftstudio.com.

2020.7.25

  • Calendar Event Sync
    • It is now possible to automatically pull events from your calendar and have them show up on your logs! This is an iOS feature, but events are visible on web as well.

  • Default Item Type
    • Do you write notes more than tasks? If so you can now set note (or event for that matter) as your default item type and you won't have to switch when adding items as often.

2020.6.24

  • Support for details on items
    • You can now add extra details to an item that show up on that item's details page.

  • Change item type on iOS
    • It is now possible to change the type of an item after you've added that item.

2020.6.10

  • Support for reordering items on iOS 🎉
    • This feature is currently only on the iOS app but we plan on adding it to the website soon!

2020.6.8

  • The new item text field no longer keeps text after a new item is created

2020.6.2

  • Setting Menu is now in the header of the home screen
    • This makes it easier to get to when you have a lot of projects.

  • Screens now have back buttons on iOS
  • New Project Icon

2020.5.28

  • View release notes from the app
    • You can now view these very release notes from inside the app to better keep up with what is new!

2020.5.27 (0.8.1 in testflight)

  • Improve iPad support
    • For now the iPad app is going to look and act like the iPhone app. We are working on and plan to support full iPad support soon. For now this fix will make the app more usable on the iPad.

2020.5.23

  • Add setting to adjust quick access log buttons on iOS.

2020.5.22

  • No longer ask for location permission on web
  • Add favicon for web app
